How it works
The book stays English. At each level some of it is shown in Spanish: single common words at first, then phrases, clauses, whole sentences, and at the top the whole book. The Spanish is marked with a dotted line; the English is one click away.
It learns what you know. Showing the English for something tells the reader you did not know it yet, and it will come back. Saying you knew it makes room for something new. A dashed line marks a stretch: one step past your level, in familiar company.
Translations were made once, by a language model, for the whole book. Nothing is translated while you read, and nothing you do is sent anywhere but this site.
